You want to get published. That makes sense. Most writers do.
But here’s the question: are you practicing? Because Michael Jordan and Cristiano Ronaldo practiced. Tiger Woods practiced. He took his first swing when he was two years old. Bill Gates practiced. Pablo Picasso practiced. He started painting when he was seven. Heck, even doctors, lawyers, and yoga teachers have a “practice.”
But every writer thinks they don’t have to practice.
The Write Practice
Whenever I find new resources I enjoy, the first thing I always want to do is share them with you! I’m aware that I don’t know everything about writing. I know there are many people out there who know a lot more about writing than I do. That’s why reblogs and link-sharing are a big part of this blog. I don’t want you to just be listening to me all the time; go listen to some other awesome writing pros out there!
The Write Practice is a website I’ve recently become quite interested in. Like most other writing sites, there’s the unfortunate paywall that keeps you from experiencing everything the site has to offer, but they have tons of great free articles and there’s a massive page on resources that points you to everything you could possibly need to plan, write, publish, and market a book. Occasionally, they have free classes as well!
Most of all, I love the emphasis on practice. It’s so true that most writers don’t think they have to practice. They think that writing a book is their practice, but that’s actually the final step! We need to be more intentional about our practice if we want to continually improve our craft.
Website Updates: If you haven’t heard yet, this website is going through some changes! This week, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite posts and resources with you as I’m hard at work with a hammer and nails behind the scenes. If you haven’t voted for the new site name yet, click that link above and do it!
Join me tomorrow for another great resource, and happy writing!

Unfortunately, good stories don’t sell by default. As an indie author, I have to do all my marketing myself! My first marketing goal will take care of advertising costs for my upcoming middle-grade book. I need your help to make it happen! Thank you in advance, and God bless you! ♥️ E.J.
